Vince Zampella, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

The tragic news was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The influential industry figure lost his life when his automobile collided and burst into flames on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his family, and all those touched by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
